Remakes!

November 13, 2006 / by indian1111

This is the age of remakes in Bollywood. Don, Sholay, Umraojaan...and may be a host of others. However, I must say that I am terribly dissappointed at the 1st two offering Don and Umrao-jaan. I am not a 'fan' type of person and judge an actor by acting ..movie by movie. So all the SRK and Aishwarya fans, please do excuse me and threat my comments as my own and do not loose any steam.

DON: Where do you get the debonair looks of Amitabh in Don? No where. The 'Chora Ganga Kinare wala" act? Nowhere, for one Amitabh IS a chora ganga kinare wala.

Umrao jaan: RESEARCH????? Whats research? The film has glaring mistakes..just to begin with the 'handpump' shown in the opening sequence where Amiran is with her father is based on a design that if of 1970 vintage..then the dress...a turban wearing Nawab?? Almost a sacrilege! And where will Ash get the 'nazakat' & 'nakhra' of Rekha in her prime?

Shahrukh Khan can only be Shahrukh Khan-not the characters he portrays...the promos of the new version of "Don" were enough for me to steer clear of the movie...Umrao Jaan I have some curiosity regarding the chemistry of the lead pairs..
.I don't know why people are so into remakes!..[THUMBDOWN]

"Shahrukh Khan can only be Shahrukh Khan-not the characters he portrays"...that is in no way a compliment to any actor!!!
...I used to be a SRK fan...but like most people have got sick of seeing him play the same persona again and again and again and again!

Like the aptly put comment: In the movie Devdas, it was not Shahrukh Khan as Devdas, but Devdas as Shahrukh Khan!
