I wrote an article about a little boy Prince, who fell in a borewell shaft http://indian1111.blogster.com/anguished_indian.html . The way the News Channel fell on each other to cover the event because it was NEWS and it gave them high viewrship. How the politicians scrabled to announce host of prizes and scholarship to Prince and his family. As if falling in the pit was an act of bravery. That Prince was saved was a great thing. Prince is a brave boy , as he endured it all with a maturity that is unseen even in the grown-ups. There is no doubt about it.
Money did pour in for Prince’s family..a lot of it . His father who was a daily wage earner, no longer works! He whiles away his days in glory.
My question is, what action was taken against the contractor who left the pit unfilled/uncovered? I am sure nothing happened to him, because nobody was interested in bringing him to books. Why?? It would not make a good ‘read’ or ‘see’ in the media that’s why!
The other day a three year old child Arti fell in a similar pit. The poor child died. How many kids would be sacrificed before the Government wakes up and does something to brink the culprits who leave the pits like that to book?
Adiós Aarti. My heart cries for you. Unfortunately I can not do anything better. Not now. However, I promise, whenever I can, I will. I have to, because you the unknown one ..could have been another Indira Gandhi or Sunita Williams.

Isn't it a horrible sin that there has to be a law and money penalty has to be involved in order to get someone's attention? It is a disgrace, but that is the way it is nowadays. Until it hurts someone's pocketbook, wrongs are not righted, and innocents suffer and/or die. What a horrible thing to happen to a little child. I am glad you have compassion. Carol
